Piet Hein Eek is a Dutch designer. Former student of the Design Academy Eindhoven (graduated in 1990), Piet Hein Eek has become the master of the "scrap¬wood" a technique of collage of pieces of wooden planks of recycling that he practices like a new « marqueterie ».

It gets old pieces of wood to make furniture in small series, more handmade than industrial. He prefers imperfections for its wooden parts of the recycling than very clean fiidhes typical of the industrial pieces. he is exposed in 1996 at the Stedelijk Museum and the Groninger Museum.
