It has been some time since our Berlin designer duo was thinking about a new concept of shelves, both robust and lightweight. Demanding specifications and a resolutely human project animated them. A zest of Japanese spirit, a good dose of Scandinavian, some sketches ... and shelves "Setup" were born !
It is in an old ballroom west of Berlin that they decided to settle. The wood comes from a nearby forest, certified without chemical treatment, with a natural coating (specifically designed oil) and the lacquered metal elements are forged within 100 meters of this new workshop. Side employees, they recruit craftsmen by associating them the services of people in reinsertion. More than just a design shelf, a real human concept for a contemporary project, practical, solid and really aesthetic !
Quarantine, thick beard and big glasses, the German designer Jorg Holtje has more than one trick in his bag. This passionate designer is naturally embarking on a creative training to graduate in 2009 from the University of Ars in Berlin. After a few years working alongside big names such as Ligne Roset or Patricia Urquiola, for which he is project manager for Alessi or Rosenthal, he teamed up with a friend of studies, Joscha Brose, and created Studio Hausen.
Exhibitions and exhibitions make known the studio. Simple, minimalist creations with a great sense of practice and the optimization of space: this is the guiding principle of this new Fri. Their first shelf system is quickly spotted at the Kortrijk Biennial in Belgium, then it is in Germany, their favorite land that they develop. A studio that we particularly like and that surprises us with treasures of inventiveness.
